how we work
01: We Test Everything First
Before we write a single exercise, we need to know exactly where your athlete stands. Every athlete at Valen starts with a full one-on-one assessment using VALD technology, the same sports medicine testing system used by professional and collegiate programs.
We measure strength, movement quality, asymmetries, and power output. Not because the numbers are impressive, but because they tell us the real story. Where the body is compensating. Where capacity is low. Where the next breakdown is most likely to happen.
You leave day one with a clear diagnosis, objective data, and a plan built around what we actually found, not what we assumed.
02: In-Person Sessions That Actually Move the Needle
Every session is a full hour, one-on-one with your Doctor of Physical Therapy. No aides. No handoffs. No spending 45 minutes on a table and 15 minutes with the person who matters.
Sessions combine manual therapy, dry needling when appropriate, and progressive strength and movement work, all sequenced intentionally to build capacity week over week. Every visit connects back to the same goal: getting your athlete back on the field stronger than before and keeping them there.
03: Support Between Sessions
Recovery doesn't happen only in the clinic. Through the Valen app your athlete has their full program with them all week, exercises, progressions, and notes from their PT. We check in regularly, adjust the plan based on how they're responding, and answer questions in real time so nothing stalls between sessions.
Most PT clinics see your athlete twice a week for 30 minutes and hope for the best between visits. At Valen, the work continues all week.
04: Rehab Into Performance
Getting out of pain is the starting point, not the finish line. As strength and capacity build, the program evolves, from rehab into performance training that prepares your athlete for what their sport actually demands. Throwing velocity. Rotational power. Arm durability over a long season.
We also collaborate with your athlete's coaches and training staff when appropriate, so everyone is working toward the same goal instead of pulling in different directions.

We have a unique model and depending on which program you opt for (and depending on your particular insurance), you can use your HSA, FSA or out-of-network insurance benefits. While we cannot guarantee reimbursement from any third parties, we supply you with the necessary documentation you need to submit claims.

At Valen, we are not into selling quick fixes. We also understand that it is a big decision and investment into yourself. That’s why we always offer a complimentary phone consultation with a Doctor of PT. You can tell your PT your entire story, and decide together if this is the right fit. Our promise to you is that we only take on clients we truly believe that we can help.

While we are Doctors of PT, you do not need to have an injury to work with us. Many of our clients have no significant pain or injury and work with us to get stronger, put on muscle, or change their body composition. So whether you're injured or not, our coaches will meet you where you're at and design a plan for you.

Every exercise comes with a video demonstration and written description. Your coaches are always just a message away for any questions. Workouts will always be clear and designed to fit you and your goals.

Small Group Performance Training combines custom programming and high touch coaching with a group experience. Each client is performing their own program with no more than 4 clients to a coach. All the benefits of personal training, but without the cost.
